If you're in the mood to go out with friends but you don't know where to turn to, here's an article that will get you on your way!
Going out for a drink

To go and have a beer with friends, most students tend to go to one of the bars on the Oude Markt, also known as the world’s longest bar. If you’re interested in keeping it cheap and/or meeting people of your faculty, you can always go to a fakbar. No, it’s not a f*ckbar like a lot of erasmus students think when they first hear the word, it’s what they call the bar of each specific faculty. Most of them are in the Tiensestraat, but others are spread around the city and Heverlee as well. The ones of Law, Social Sciences, Psychology and Philology are particularly popular.
A bar spanish and Latino students in particular wil enjoy is Villa Ernesto on the Vismarkt. For some salsa dancing and a good Mojito or desperados, this is your place to be.
And a good tip for those who like to play boardgames is De Metafoor in the Parijsstraat.
Going out to dance
Leuven holds a lot of spots where student parties are thrown. Most common location is the Lido in the Bogaardenstraat, the Albatros in the Brusselsestraat, Musicafé in the Munstraat and Rumba&Co in the Kiekenstraat. Lido is the biggest of them all. Most mainstream parties are hosted here. Musicafé is a bit smaller and is known for R&B and HipHop nights, or just regular smaller scale parties. Rumba&Co is where the hip alternative parties take place.
If you want to go completely crazy (and drunk and have a one night stand), the Bierkelder on the Oude Markt or The Seven Oaks in the Tiensestraat are the way to go.
Leuven also has its own club: Silo at Vaartkom 39. Silo mostly throws parties in the weekend and is excellent if you like clubbing and dancing to electronic music.
To know where and when there are parties going on:

Don't forget about De Blauwe
Don't forget about De Blauwe Kater, a jazz and blues bar where you might even meet up with other Erasmus students! It's hard to miss in the Naamsestraat.
